- 1979 - 1981 Bertlesmann Publishing, Sales
- 1981 - 1988 National Council of YMCAs, head of research and development. Responsibilities included development of YMCA strategy on Drugs Education, Legacy giving, and Housing. (Some overlap with start of Temptation business)
- 1988 - 90 Part time as above, plus work for Temptation business
